Deeds, correspondence, manuscripts and typescripts, photographs, maps and surveys, receipts, printed material, and clippings pertaining to the Village of Old Field, largely collected by the village historian. Many of the deeds and other papers, including title searches back to 1675, are from the Darlington family who owned much of the land that became Old Field, and record the history of land transactions in Old Field from the 17th century to the 1960s. Darlington family members mentioned include James, Ella, Gilbert, and Henry Darlington. There are village government records, including lists of village officials; oral histories and historical notes by and about various residents; photographs of houses and residents; and material on dredging in the harbor.

Darlington (1892-1980) was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1916. As a Naval chaplain in World War I, he served at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Killingholme, England, and remained active in veterans organizations throughout his life, receiving numerous citations for his civilian service. Darlington was associated with the American Bible Society for nearly fifty years, serving as treasurer from 1920 to 1958, investment officer from 1958 to 1961, and as a consultant after his retirement.
